Professor Moussawi recognized as LEAP Scholar

Professor Ghassan Moussawi has been named a LEAP (Lincoln Excellence for Assistant Professors) Scholar by the College of LAS.  The award is granted to faculty early in their career based on scholarly productivity and contributions to the educational mission of their departments and the College of LAS.  Professor Moussawi holds appointments in Gender and Women's Studies and Sociology.  His research interests include transnational gender and sexualities, queer theory and queer of color critique, feminist postcolonial theory, social movements, and urban studies.  His book, "Disruptive Situations: Fractal Orientalism and Queer Strategies in Beirut," will be published this summer.  Professor Moussawi teaches GWS 202: Sexualities, and GWS 580: Queer Theories and Methods, among other courses, and is consistently ranked as excellent by his students.
